BACKGROUND: Supracrestal gingival tissue dimensions (SGTDs) has been considered to be an essential element of periodontal phenotype (PP) components. This study aimed to explore the relationship between SGTDs and other PP components by digital superposition method that integrated cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) with intraoral scanning. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Stomatology Hospital of Fujian Medical University. Participants were recruited based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data obtained from the digital scanner (TRIOS 3, 3Shape, Denmark) and CBCT images were imported into the TRIOS software (Implant Studio, 3Shape, Denmark) for computing relevant parameters. The significant level was set at 0.05. RESULTS: A total of 83 participants with 498 maxillary anterior teeth were finally included. The mean values of supracrestal gingival height (SGH) and the distance from the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) to the crest of the alveolar ridge (CEJ-ABC) on the buccal site were significantly higher than palatal SGH (SGH-p) and palatal CEJ-ABC (CEJ-ABC-p). Men exhibited taller CEJ-ABC and SGH-p than women. Additionally, tooth type was significantly associated with the SGH, SGH-p and CEJ-ABC-p. Taller SGH was associated with wider crown, smaller papilla height (PH), flatter gingival margin, thicker bone thickness (BT) and gingival thickness (GT) at CEJ, the alveolar bone crest (ABC), and 2 mm apical to the ABC. Smaller SGH-p displayed thicker BT and GT at CEJ, the ABC, and 2 and 4 mm apical to the ABC. Higher CEJ-ABC showed lower interproximal bone height, smaller PH, flatter gingival margin, thinner GT and BT at CEJ, and 2 mm apical to the ABC. Smaller CEJ-ABC-p displayed thicker BT at CEJ and 2 and 4 mm apical to the ABC. On the buccal, thicker GT was correlated with thicker BT at 2 and 4 mm below the ABC. CONCLUSION: SGTDs exhibited a correlation with other PP components, especially crown shape, gingival margin and interdental PH. The relationship between SGTDs and gingival and bone phenotypes depended on the apico-coronal level evaluated. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was approved by the Biomedical Research Ethics Committee of Stomatology Hospital of Fujian Medical University (approval no. 2023-24).

Morphological variation in modern human dentition is still an open field of study. The understanding of dental shape and metrics is relevant for the advancement of human biology and evolution and is thus of interest in the fields of dental anthropology, as well as human anatomy and medicine. Of concern is also the variation of the inner aspects of the crown which can be investigated using the tools and methods of virtual anthropology. In this study, we explored inter- and intra-population morphometric variation of modern humans' upper third and fourth premolars (P3s and P4s, respectively) considering both the inner and outer aspects of the crown, and discrete traits. We worked by means of geometric morphometrics on 3D image data from a geographically balanced sample of human populations from five continents, to analyse the shape of the dentinal crown, and the crown outline in 78 P3s and 76 P4s from 85 individuals. For the study of dental traits, we referred to the Arizona State University Dental Anthropology System integrated with more recent classification systems. The 3D shape variation of upper premolar crowns varied between short and mesio-distally broad, and tall and mesio-distally narrow. The observed shape variation was independent from the geographical origin of the populations, and resulted in extensive overlap. We noted a high pairwise correlation (r1 = 0.83) between upper P3s and P4s. We did not find any significant geographic differences in the analysed non-metric traits. Our outcomes thus suggest that geographical provenance does not play a determinant role in the shaping of the dental crown, whose genesis is under strict genetic control.

Complicated crown root fracture is a serious combined fracture of the enamel, dentin, and cementum in dental trauma. The treatment method is complicated. During the procedure, the condition of pulp, periodontal, and tooth body should be thoroughly evaluated, and a multidisciplinary approach combined with sequential treatment is recommended. This case reported the different treatment and repair processes of one case of two affected teeth after complicated crown root fracture of upper anterior teeth, including regrafting of broken crown after flap surgery at the first visit, direct resin repair to remove broken fragments, and pulp treatment and post-crown repair at the second visit. After 18 months of follow-up, the preservation treatment of the affected teeth with complicated crown root fracture was achieved. Therefore, fragment reattachment and post-crown restoration are feasible treatment options for children with complicated crown root fracture.

OBJECTIVES: The perio-restorative approach to maintaining supracrestal tissue attachment (STA; formerly known as biologic width) is a fundamental goal in modern dentistry. This article aims to review the clinical impact of biologic shaping (BS) as an innovative alternative to traditional crown lengthening procedures, reflecting over two decades of clinical experience. MATERIAL AND METHODS: As a review paper, it is crucial to highlight that BS stands as a unique approach designed to optimize STA while emphasizing minimal to no removal of supporting bone. The review spans over two decades, consistently demonstrating clinical efficacy and predictability. Remarkably, BS focuses on addressing issues such as root concavities, developmental grooves, irregularities, furcation lips, and CEJ offering a remarkable level of clinical precision. RESULTS: The reviewed literature underscores that BS has consistently achieved substantial clinical success in fulfilling its objectives. This method presents a biologically sound alternative to traditional crown lengthening, placing a strong emphasis on the preservation of essential bone tissue and the establishment of durable STA. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that BS is a logical and biologically driven approach for maintaining STA, making it a promising alternative to traditional crown lengthening. The method offers a predictable and reproducible way to preserve bone tissue while achieving durable STA. This innovation holds great promise in the field of periodontal and restorative dentistry.

OBJECTIVE: Marginal alveolar bone loss is one of the key features of periodontitis and can be observed via panoramic radiographs. This study aimed to establish a cascading learning method with deep learning (DL) for precise radiographic bone loss (RBL) measurements at specific tooth positions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Through the design of two tasks for tooth position recognition and tooth semantic segmentation using the SegFormer model, specific tooth's crown, intrabony portion, and suprabony portion of the roots were obtained. The RBL was subsequently measured by length through these three areas using the principal component analysis (PCA) principal axis. RESULTS: The average intersection over union (IoU) for the tooth position recognition task was 0.8906, with an F1-score of 0.9338. The average IoU for the tooth semantic segmentation task was 0.8465, with an F1-score of 0.9138. When the two tasks were combined, the average IoU was 0.7889, with an F1-score of 0.8674. The correlation coefficient between the RBL prediction results based on the PCA principal axis and the clinicians' measurements exceeded 0.85. Compared to those of the other two methods, the average precision of the predicted RBL was 0.7722, the average sensitivity was 0.7416, and the average F1-score was 0.7444. CONCLUSIONS: The method for predicting RBL using DL and PCA produced promising results, offering rapid and reliable auxiliary information for future periodontal disease diagnosis. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Precise RBL measurements are important for periodontal diagnosis. The proposed RBL-SF can measure RBL at specific tooth positions and assign the bone loss stage. The ability of the RBL-SF to measure RBL at specific tooth positions can guide clinicians to a certain extent in the accurate diagnosis of periodontitis.

Tooth morphology is among the most well-studied indicators of ecology. For decades, researchers have examined the gross morphology and wear patterns of teeth as indicators of diet, and recent advances in scanning and computer analysis have allowed the development of new and more quantitative measures of tooth morphology. One of the most popular of these new methods is orientation patch count (OPC). OPC, a measure of surface complexity, was originally developed to distinguish the more complex tooth crowns of herbivores from the less complex tooth crowns of faunivores. OPC and a similar method derived from it, orientation patch count rotated (OPCR), have become commonplace in analyses of both modern and fossil amniote dietary ecology. The widespread use of these techniques makes it possible to now re-assess the utility of OPC and OPCR. Here, we undertake a comprehensive review of OPC(R) and diet and perform a meta-analysis to determine the overall difference in complexity between herbivores and faunivores. We find that the relationship between faunivore and herbivore OPC or OPCR values differs substantially across studies, and although some support the initial assessment of greater complexity in herbivores, others do not. Our meta-analysis does not support an overall pattern of greater complexity in herbivores than faunivores across terrestrial amniotes. It appears that the relationship of OPC or OPCR to diet is taxon-specific and dependent on the type of faunivory of the group in question, with insectivores often having values similar to herbivores. We suggest extreme caution in comparing OPC and OPCR values across studies and offer suggestions for how OPCR can constructively be used in future research.

BACKGROUND: Double teeth are dental anomalies that can lead to aesthetic and orthodontic problems. CASE PRESENTATION: This report discusses two cases involving the multidisciplinary management of permanent maxillary left lateral incisors fused with a supernumerary tooth in two girls aged 9 and 10. Following intraoral and radiographic examinations, one was diagnosed with fusion, and the other was diagnosed with concrescence. The crown of the fused incisor was separated using a burs and extracted intraorally. The concrescent incisor was separated along its length using a laser and intentionally replanted extraorally. After a 6-year follow-up, no pathological signs were observed in the fused incisor. However, after an 11-year follow-up, external resorption was observed in the concrescent incisor. CONCLUSIONS: Both incisors remained asymptomatic throughout the observation period. This case report highlights two different and effective methods employed to preserve the natural function, form, and aesthetics of double incisors.

BACKGROUND Material selection is crucial in restorative dentistry, influenced by aesthetics, material properties, and tooth location. This understanding is key for advancing dental practices and patient outcomes. The present study aimed to assess dentists' preferences for restorative materials in single-tooth crowns (SC) and how abutment tooth location and preparation margins influence these choices. MATERIAL AND METHODS A web-based pre-validated questionnaire survey was conducted among 811 actively practicing dentists in Saudi Arabia. RESULTS In posterior teeth, we found that ceramic was the most preferred material for SC regardless of the abutment tooth location and location of margins, followed by porcelain fused to metal (PFMs). In anterior teeth, ceramics were preferred, followed by CAD/CAM-based resin SC. Among the choice of ceramics in teeth for both supra-gingival margins, monolith zirconia was the most-preferred material for SC fabrication in posterior teeth, followed by zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic. Similarly, for sub-gingival margins, monolith zirconia crowns were the most popular option in posterior teeth among the respondents, with the highest in the mandibular molar region. In the anterior region, layered zirconia was the least preferred, and lithium disilicate ceramics was the most-favored option. A statistically significant difference existed between supra- and subgingival preparation for teeth 11 (P=0.01), 16 (P=0.03), and 34 (P=0.02). CONCLUSIONS Ceramic was the material of choice among Saudi dentists for replacement of SC, irrespective of the location and preparation margin. Monolith zirconia was usually selected for posterior teeth and lithium disilicate ceramics was the top choice in anterior teeth.

OBJECTIVES: A modern pattern (rate and duration) of dental development occurs relatively recently during human evolution. Given the temporal overlap of Homo naledi with the first appearance of fossil Homo sapiens in Africa, this small-bodied and small-brained hominin presents an opportunity to elucidate the evolution of enamel growth in the hominin clade. Here we conduct the first histological study of two permanent mandibular canines and one permanent maxillary first molar, representing three individuals attributed to H. naledi. We reconstruct the rate and duration of enamel growth and compare these findings to those reported for other fossil hominins and recent humans. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thin sections of each tooth were produced using standard histological methods. Daily and longer period incremental markings were measured to reconstruct enamel secretion and extension rates, Retzius periodicity, canine crown and molar cusp formation time. RESULTS: Daily enamel secretion rates overlapped with those from recent hominins. Canine crown formation time is similar to that observed in recent Europeans but is longer than canine formation times reported for most other hominins including Australopithecus and H. neanderthalensis. The extended period of canine formation appears to be due to a relatively tall enamel crown and a sustained slow rate of enamel extension in the cervical portion of the crown. A Retzius periodicity of 11 days for the canines, and nine days for the molar, in H. naledi parallel results found in recent humans. An 11-day periodicity has not been reported for Late Pleistocene Homo (H. erectus, H. neanderthalensis) and is rarely found in Australopithecus and Paranthropus species. DISCUSSION: Enamel growth of H. naledi is most similar to recent humans though comparative data are limited for most fossil hominin species. The high Retzius periodicity values do not follow expectations for a small-brained hominin.

OBJECTIVES: The current study used a three-dimensional (3D) surface homologous modeling to analyze the structure of maxillary first premolar (P1) and second premolar (P2) crowns, to identify any morphological differences between them, particularly in their cuspal structures. METHODS: The study sample comprised 27 male elementary and junior high school students from Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Plaster casts were collected and the 3D coordinates were used to measure the crown structures. Thereafter, principal component (PC) analysis was carried out using the 3D coordinates of the homologous models, containing 4498 anatomical data points, including 9 landmarks. RESULTS: The findings indicated that P1 was significantly larger than P2, despite both teeth exhibiting similar intercuspal distances. The homologous model analysis revealed that 61.5 % of the total variance could be explained up to the fourth PC. Overall size and shape in the mesiodistal and buccolingual directions were estimated using PC1 and PC2, respectively. Both components highlighted a shape factor, indicating that the buccal cusp was more well-developed than the lingual cusp in P1 compared to P2. CONCLUSIONS: The variations in the size of the mesial and distal premolar teeth and the relationships between the cusps in the completed tooth crowns can be explained using molecular biology developmental models.

The complications of replacement resorption following tooth injury in growing children include infrapositioning of the tooth, tilting of the adjacent teeth, and alveolar ridge deformity. Decoronation is a conservative treatment method that facilitates bone preservation. The current case report focuses on the long-term preservation of alveolar ridge dimension following decoronation in three patients. Decoronation was performed prior to occurrence of the pubertal growth spurt, and the patients' ridge width and vertical apposition were monitored for at least 4 years. Timely intervention and regular monitoring are essential for maximization of the benefits of decoronation, a simple procedure that preserves esthetics and minimizes the need for further treatments. The importance of space management for prosthetic treatment has also been highlighted. The findings of this study show that infrapositioned teeth in growing children can be treated successfully using decoronation.

Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) with teeth severely damaged by dental caries and/or periodontal disease are often managed with medication and/or tooth extraction. A common endodontic treatment for severely decayed teeth in a 26-year-old female chimpanzee is reported. The left maxillary central incisor tooth had lost its crown, probably due to trauma that was not recent, and it had a fistula most likely due to chronic apical periodontitis. The diagnosis was confirmed radiographically before treatment. To treat the infected root canal, endodontic treatment used in humans was adapted for a chimpanzee. After the treatment, the tooth was sealed using an adhesive resin composite. At 11-years post-treatment, there were no signs of recurrence of the lesion or of failure of the tooth seal. The results of this case report suggest that common endodontic treatments used in humans are also effective in chimpanzees.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to measure and compare coronectomy versus extraction in patients at increased risk for inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) injuries associated with third molar removal in terms of IAN injury and other complications. METHODS: The review adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses checklist. We conducted a comprehensive literature search across six databases and the gray literature from July 15 to August 01, 2022. We employed Rayyan software to identify and remove duplicate articles to ensure data integrity. Our research followed the strategy patient (P), intervention (I), comparison (C), outcome (O), and study (S): (P) patients needing lower third molar surgery at higher risk of IAN injury; (I) surgery options, coronectomy or complete extraction; (C) comparisons included reduced risks of nerve injuries, postoperative complications (pain, infection, alveolitis), and increased risks of reoperation, root migration, and extraction; (O) desired outcomes were preventing nerve injuries and reducing other surgical complications; and (S) observational study designs (cohort, case-control). Excluded from consideration were studies involving teeth other than lower third molars, as well as reviews, letters, conference summaries, and personal opinions. To gauge the certainty of evidence, we employed the Grading of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation instrument, selecting the most current papers with the highest levels of evidence for inclusion. The primary outcome variable of our study centered on evaluating the incidence of IAN injury, and secondly, the lingual nerve (LN) injury, the postoperative pain, infection, localized alveolitis, the necessity for surgical reintervention, root migration, and extraction. These assessments were carried out with respect to their chosen operative technique for managing third molars, either coronectomy or extraction, as predictor variables. We also considered covariates such as age, gender, and the presence of systemic diseases in our analysis to account for potential confounding factors. The pooled data underwent rigorous analysis utilizing an inverse variance method with both random and fixed effect models by the "metabin" function in the R program's meta-package. Additionally, we assessed the risk of bias in the selected studies by utilizing the Joanna Briggs Institute's Critical Appraisal Checklist for Studies Reporting Prevalence Data and the Critical Appraisal Checklist for Case Reports. RESULTS: Of the 1,017 articles found, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 42 were included in this study (29 cohort and 13 case-control studies), including 3,095 patients from 18 countries. The meta-analysis showed that coronectomy reduced the risk of IAN injury [OR (Odds Ratio): 0.14; 95% CI (confidence intervals): 0.06-0.30; I2 (inconsistency index) = 0%; P = .0001], postoperative pain (OR: 0.97; 95% CI: 0.33-2.86; I2 = 81%; P = .01), and alveolitis (OR: 0.38; 95% CI: 0.13-1.09; I2 = 32.2%; P = .01) when compared to complete tooth extraction. However, it also highlighted a greater risk of reintervention (OR: 5.38; 95% CI: 1.14-25.28; I2 = 0.0%; P = .01). CONCLUSIONS: This study has demonstrated that coronectomy is associated with a decreased risk for IAN injury and decreased pain and localized alveolitis when compared to complete tooth extraction. However, it is essential to acknowledge the higher likelihood of requiring reintervention with coronectomy. Therefore, clinicians should carefully consider the advantages and potential drawbacks of both techniques and tailor their choices to the unique clinical circumstances of each patient.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the accuracy of the Invisalign appliance in achieving predicted angular tooth movement of the maxillary central incisors, to locate the center of rotation in a labio-palatal direction, and to investigate any difference between 1-weekly and 2-weekly wear protocols. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study involved a retrospective sample of two groups of 46 Class I adult subjects treated non-extraction with different protocols of 1-weekly and 2-weekly wear. The pretreatment, predicted outcome and achieved outcome digital models were superimposed and measured using metrology software. Angular and center-of-rotation measurements in the sagittal plane for the maxillary right central incisor were analyzed. RESULTS: There was a statistically significant difference between predicted and achieved angular measurements (P < .005) for labial tooth movements regardless of wear protocol. For palatal movements, no statistically significant difference was observed (P > .05). A small amount of overexpression was observed in some cases. Regarding crown and root control, uncontrolled tipping was the most predictable. No statistically significant difference was found between predicted and achieved center of rotation, but the confidence interval was wide. No statistically significant difference (P > .05) was found between the two wear protocols for the parameters measured. CONCLUSIONS: For maxillary central incisors, labial angular movements were not as accurate as palatal movements. Overcorrection could be recommended with careful clinical monitoring due to the possibility of overexpression. Control of root movements may be unpredictable, and further research is required to draw stronger conclusions. INTRODUCTION: This study investigated the effects of different timings of orthodontic treatment on the root development of impacted anterior teeth in children. METHODS: The cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data of 45 children with impacted anterior teeth were divided into unformed root (UR) group or basically formed root (BFR) group to evaluate root length (RL) and root growth length (RGL) of impacted teeth and contralateral nonimpacted teeth pretreatment and posttreatment. In addition, 22 patients with impacted dilaceration were selected to assess the effects of the crown-root angle and root development stage on RL and RGL. The Student t test, Wilcoxon test, analysis of variance, and multiple linear regression analysis were used for statistical evaluations. RESULTS: The RL of treated impacted teeth pretreatment and posttreatment was significantly shorter than contralateral nonimpacted teeth values (P <0.05). Posttreatment, the RL and RGL of impacted teeth of the UR group were significantly greater than those of the BFR group (P <0.05). The RGL of the dilacerated root in the UR group was considerably higher than in the BFR group (P <0.05). The larger crown-root angle group had a longer posttreatment RL (P <0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that the Nolla stage of impacted teeth and RL of contralateral teeth pretreatment significantly influenced the RL of impacted teeth posttreatment. CONCLUSIONS: Prompt orthodontic treatment is necessary for children with impacted anterior teeth to release the impacted state and achieve better root development. The root length of a dilacerated tooth continued to develop under treatment, but the crown-root angle partly constrained it.

OBJECTIVE: Immediate implants and immediate alveolar sealing have been a widely utilized treatment with high predictability and biological advantages. The improvement in technology has made it possible to simplify clinical processes. The aim of the present report was to describe the complete digital workflow of the Biologically oriented preparation technique for immediate posterior implant, immediate provisionalization and fabrication of definitive implant crowns. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: The surgical process and prosthetic management to preserve the gingival contours of the extracted natural tooth during immediate implant placement and provisionalization are described. Additionally, during the same clinical intervention, the definitive intraoral digital implant scans for capturing the implant position, peri-implant tissue contours, adjacent and antagonist dentition, and profile emergence of the interim implant crown are captured for the fabrication of the definitive crown. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the technique described, the immediate implant placement and provisionalization in the posterior area provides biological and clinical advantages, reducing the number of abutment-implant disconnections and the number of clinical appointments, as well as increases patient comfort. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The present article describes a technique for an immediate implant placement and provisionalization in the posterior region for maintaining the gingival architecture of the extracted tooth. During the same appointment, the implant position, peri-implant tissue contours, and adjacent and antagonist dentition, and profile emergence of the interim implant crown are captured by using an intraoral scanner and used for the fabrication of the definitive crown. This technique aims to reduce the number of abutment-implant disconnections and clinical appointments.

OBJECTIVE: A comprehensive classification of structurally compromised teeth (SCT) was introduced. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS: Dental injuries or operative mismanagement undermine the structural integrity of the tooth abutment, reducing its biomechanical strength and rendering restorative procedures challenging. To standardize the overall pre-operative evaluations and determine the biological and mechanical features, a classification of the coronal and cervical tooth defects, as well as an attentive analysis of the most apical location of the residual cervical tooth structure along the whole perimeter and the most coronal location of the bucco/lingual residual structure was presented. Considering the residual cervical structure, five possible clinical scenarios were individuated with respect to the gingival margin, gingival sulcus, supracrestal tissue attachment and bone crest (BC). The latter prevents the isolation procedures rendering the adhesive restorations unfeasible. Instead, the location of the most apical portion of residual cervical structure within subgingival/intrasulcular depth (>1.5 mm above BC) can be considered restorable. CONCLUSIONS: This classification is threefold: to enclose all the possible clinically encountered tooth defects, to identify the apical problems of SCT to appropriately manage the perio-restorative interfaces, and to evaluate the tooth resistance capacity of SCT, as to plan and perform the most adequate biomechanical restorative approach. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The present classification is proposed to provide a complete perspective of structurally compromised teeth to standardize the biologic and biomechanical evaluations during planning of restorative procedures.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: The recommended treatment for uncomplicated crown fractures is bonding the fractured fragment or the fragment reattachment. A paucity was identified regarding the studies comparing the efficacy of micro-hybrid and nanohybrid composites in fragment reattachment. Hence, the present study aimed to evaluate and compare three materials for bonding of fragments rehydrated by humidification in teeth with uncomplicated crown fractures. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eighty mandibular bovine incisors with similar dimensions and free of any structural deformities were fractured similar to the technique followed in previous studies. Fracture was simulated, fragments, and stumps were coded, stumps were stored in artificial saliva and the fragments were dehydrated at room temperature and pressure. They were randomly assigned to Group-1 (no rehydration), Group-2 (rehydrated and bonded by flowable nanohybrid composite-3M Filtek Supreme Syringe Flowable Composite Resin-A2, Sao Paulo, Brazil), Group-3 (rehydrated and bonded by flowable micro-hybrid composite- Ruby Flow, InciDental, England, United Kingdom), and Group-4 (rehydrated and bonded by light-cured Glass-Ionomer-Cement-Voco Ionoseal, Cuxhaven, Germany). The samples were subjected to a universal testing machine to evaluate the force required to fracture the bonded fragments. RESULTS: The highest median value of the force required to fracture was recorded for Group 2 (208.4 N) followed by Group 3 (195.2). The force required to fracture the bonded fragments was lowest in Group 4 (67.2 N) which was lower than the negative control (131.4 N). The differences between the observations in Groups 2 and 3 were not found to be statistically significant. CONCLUSION: The nano and micro-hybrid composites showed greater force required to fracture than fragments bonded by LC-GIC. Dehydrated fragments bonded using nanocomposites performed better than rehydrated fragments bonded by using LC-GIC.
